I remember when the original Agony riders departed for Death Valley back in 1982. I was a teenager and in awe of those guys! The stories they told when they came back... I always wanted to ride! That dream was fulfilled in 1993 when I rode it with my dad, Don Moore, and we covered 228 miles. Dad had been the intern director at the Ranch in the 80's and so I grew up as a Ranch kid. An amazing place filled with amazing stories of new life birthed in hurting youth.
What an honor it was to ride that year. Then from 2001-2005 I headed up rider tracking via the ham radio group keeping tabs on the riders as they pedaled through the Sierra Valley to ensure their safety. Being part of the Agony Ride whether as a rider or sagger (support personell) is always rewarding.
We moved to Texas in 2006 and I haven't been able to be back....but this year it works! I'm so stoked to ride for the Ranch students and represent the love of Christ to them. I have a long history with the Ranch and totally believe in the life changing work they do.
To be a part of this 40th anniversary event will be extra special and a chance to renew old acquaintances and friendships. I'm shooting for 300 miles this year... will you support me with a per mile pledge?
