This year marks our 40th Agony Ride, and it also marks 40 years since I arrived at the Ranch. In those 40 years I have been privileged to see countless young lives changed by the power and love of Christ. The Agony Ride has always stood as a small example of Christ’s sacrificial love, and throughout the years many students have been deeply impacted by it. Many of those students would not have been able to come to the Ranch without the money raised through the ride.
I have ridden in the Agony 23 times, including 3 in the early Death Valley years, and been a sagger at all the rest. I have seen God at work, both in my life and in others' lives, in every one. Since my last ride in 2016 I have been privileged to serve as the Ride Director. With this year being the 40th, I really wanted to ride again, yet also felt called to use my gifts as Ride Director. So, at the Lord’s prompting, a plan was hatched for me and Suzanne Hartley to ride “virtually” in the Sierra Valley the week before the actual ride, and still serve in our respective leadership roles during the ride.
The students who come to the Ranch are so valuable, and so worth everything we can give them. Please partner with me as we work to “break the cycles of brokenness, one story at a time.”
