Update
A lot of people finished a lot of miles yesterday. One guy completed 407—and the organizer mentioned that 400+ hasn't been done in 15 years.
As I reflect on this event, and others I’ve done in the past, it’s clear that there’s something truly special about this one. Everyone here was riding or working behalf of someone else. There was a deep sense that sacrifice was the norm.
John 15:13 says, “Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends.” Of course, in context, Jesus was preparing His closest friends for what He was about to do on the cross. But I also believe this verse can be instructive for us—to lay down our comforts and desires for the good of those around us.
And that’s exactly what happened.
Students at the ranch stepped out in faith to share their testimonies, served us with whatever we needed to keep our bodies going, and cheered us on like crazy. Others helped us stay upright as we limped into aid stations, filled our bottles, placed cold towels on our necks—and the list goes on. Riders came out and pushed their bodies to the limit. Why?
For me, this was a beautiful picture of God’s people coming together to serve one another.
Speaking of serving: thank you to all of you who gave—through prayers, finances, or both. The money raised here is going to mend and heal broken hearts.
